Nama Hatta Convention

On the 7th of August 2010, ISKCON Phoenix Nama-Hatta convened a meeting of all nama-hatta leaders in the IVTB auditorium. There are 27 official nama-hatta groups in the Phoenix region and the aim of coming together was so that leaders could inspire each other to increase their preaching efforts.

Different leaders shared their realizations. Satrughna prabhu, who has been leading the Glen Park nama-hatta for many years, spoke on the importance of kirtan and personal care. He explained how nama-hatta groups form the basis of strong devotees because in such groups, leaders can give personal care to the students. Rasika Sindhu prabhu developed his nama-hatta programmes through weekly kartik programmes. One of his nama-hatta groups consists of 30 children who meet weekly and chant the Hare Krishna maha-mantra together for 2 hours. Raghunath prabhu heads 5 nama-hatta teams and has taught all his students to play musical instruments, lead kirtan and cook.
Shyama-Gopal prabhu gave a multi-media presentation on reincarnation which left all the participants astounded.
Giridhari prabhu, the Phoenix region Nama-Hatta co-ordinator, distributed copies of Krpamoya prabhu’s Nama Hatta Handbook. Krpamoya prabhu is a disciple of Srila Prabhupada, who has been developing nama-hatta in the UK for decades and he has recently compiled a very helpful guide book for those wishing to start nama-hatta preaching.
The evening concluded with prasadam.
