For the past 35 years, the Bhaktivedanta Players have put on inspiring plays attracting thousands of guests to Hare Krishna Festivals in the UK, USA, South Africa, East Africa, Western Europe and India, amongst others.

We have the unique opportunity of hosting some of the most experienced actors of the Bhaktivedanta Players drama troupe for a Drama Festival Tour in Mauritius from the auspicious day of Sankranti on the 14th Jan until the 5th of February 2011.

Four plays – The Ramayana, Sanatana and the touchstone, Sakshi Gopal and The Brahmana, and The Cobbler – will be performed at 10 different venues around the Island. Other plays and mimes can also be performed in schools and for our youth.
A premiere performance has been scheduled for the 14th January 2011 at the Octave Wiehe Auditorium of the University of Mauritius. On that day, we will also be blessed by the presence of His Holiness Bhakti Caru Swami from India, who is the Minister of Culture of our ISKCON society. His Holiness has been promoting cultural presentations of our Vedic Dharma around the world for the past 30 years.

All the actors are experienced, work part-time and on a voluntary basis as a service to Lord Krishna. They are technically very professional and the plays have been praised for their high standard of directing and acting. Over the years, the team has acquired various costumes and props and is able to dress several actors for a myriad of plays. The Players have been managed by Dwarka Puri dasa and Jaya Krishna dasa for more than 25 years. They have both come to Mauritius.
