ISKCON Youth Forum in Mauritius

The ISKCON Youth Ministry is affiliated with ISKCON, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, whose Founder-Acharya is His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Srila Prabhupada wanted youngsters to take up Krishna consciousness very seriously in their own lives and to change the society. Many students have applied the teachings of Bhagavad-gita in their lives even while continuing their studies.

Youth programmes exist in many parts of the World: England, India, Canada, USA, Malaysia, Africa, Germany and South America, amongst others. In Mauritius the ISKCON Youth Forum(IYF) started in 1994 with a group then called the BhaktivedantaYouth Forum. The moto of IYF is “Stay High Forever”. IYF organizes many activities where students experience a spiritual life of high moral standards.

Activities include:

1. Preaching programmes in colleges and schools

2. Training in music, orchestra, singing, presenting lectures and other skills

IYF members meet every Sunday at ISKCON Hare Krishna Land Phoenix.

Today's youth, especially those who are educated, are tomorrow's leaders. By training students in spiritual culture, the whole world can be benefited. As Sri Krishna says in Bhagavad-gita (3.21):
yad yad acarati sresthas
tat tad evetaro janah
sa yat pramanam kurute
lokas tad anuvartate

Translation: "Whatever action a great man performs, common men follow and whatever standards he sets by exemplary acts, all the world pursues."
